WhichWay is a daily geography game built around aiming, not typing. Each day you start at a highlighted country and try to point a directional beam toward a named target country somewhere else on the globe. Your score depends on how close your aim is to the real world bearing, across 10 rounds using the same countries as everyone else that day.

What is WhichWay?

WhichWay turns geography knowledge into a physical aiming skill instead of a naming or spelling exercise. Every day the game highlights a starting country on an interactive 3D globe and names a target country below it. Your job is to rotate the globe, orient yourself, and drag a directional beam until it points along the real world bearing from your current country to the target, then submit that guess. A full session runs 10 rounds, and everyone who plays that day faces the same 10 countries, so the game works as a shared daily competition rather than a random draw per player.

That aiming mechanic is what separates WhichWay from most geography dles. Games like Worldle ask you to identify a country from its silhouette, Travle has you chain a path of neighboring countries, and Globle narrows down a mystery country by showing how close or far your guesses are. WhichWay never asks you to name anything. Instead it scores the angle of your submitted direction against the actual bearing. The App Store listing describes the payout as 100 coins for a perfect aim, 50 if very near, 10 if broadly in the right direction, and 0 otherwise, plus an instant vibration when you miss.

WhichWay is credited to developer Adrien Jean on its Apple App Store listing and published under the name Eyospace. The Android app's package id, com.eyospace.boussole.twa, contains the word boussole, French for compass, and its twa suffix marks it as a Trusted Web Activity wrapper around the same web game. The iOS app reached version 1.0 on October 11, 2025, and a November 2025 update added difficulty levels. The game won Best Geography Game and The TIL Award at the 2025 Playlin Awards. It is available as a free web game at whichway.is as well as free apps on iOS and Android.

Beyond the daily challenge, WhichWay offers an Endless Mode where you keep playing with a limited number of lives until you run out, chasing a personal high score, and a Historical Calendar that archives past daily puzzles so you can go back and try earlier rounds. The game tracks your streak of consecutive days played and lets you compare your daily score against other players worldwide, which is the closest thing it has to a Wordle style shareable result. The overall feel is quick and tactile, less about trivia recall and more about a gut sense of direction.

How to play WhichWay

1. Open WhichWay at whichway.is.
2. Look at the highlighted current country on the 3D globe and read the named target country below it.
3. Drag the globe to get your bearings, then drag the directional beam toward where you think the target country lies.
4. Submit your aim to lock in that round's guess and see how it scored.
5. Repeat for all 10 rounds of the day, using the same set of countries as every other player.
6. Check your total daily score and compare it against other players worldwide.

Tips and strategy

• Focus on direction, not distance. Your score depends on the bearing you aim, not on how close the target country actually is.
• Rotate the globe first so you have a clear sense of where north sits relative to your current country before committing to an angle.
• Think in rough compass terms, like northeast or due south, rather than trying to nail an exact degree.
• Small corrections matter. The scoring tiers reward a perfect bearing far more than a merely 'in the right general direction' guess.
• Use Endless Mode to practice aiming across a variety of country pairs without spending your one daily attempt.
