GeoConnections
Group places by their hidden geographic links.
GeoConnections is a daily geography puzzle from Teuteuf Games, the studio behind Worldle and Tradle. Each day it hands you a grid of 16 geographic clues and asks you to sort them into four hidden groups of four. The clues mix flags, countries, cities, landmarks, regions, and national dishes, so the connections are always about places rather than words.
What is GeoConnections?
The idea is simple to describe and harder to solve. You get a 4x4 grid of 16 tiles, and every tile belongs to exactly one of four secret categories. A category might be countries that share a border, flags that use the same color scheme, landmarks in the same region, or dishes from one country. You pick the four tiles you think share a link and submit them. If you are right, the group locks in, changes color, and reveals the name of the category the four tiles had in common. Clear all four groups and you win the day.
What makes it tricky is overlap. Several tiles will look like they belong in more than one group, and that is the point. A single country can connect to a flag category, a landmark category, and a cuisine category at the same time, so the safe-looking guess is often a trap. The puzzle rewards you for spotting which clue is the odd fit before you commit, rather than grabbing the four items that jump out first.
This is where GeoConnections separates itself from the wider family of geography games. Worldle, Globle, and GeoGuessr ask you to name or locate a single place per day. GeoConnections instead borrows the grouping mechanic made popular by NYT Connections and pours geography into it, so there is no single answer to hunt for. It also stands apart from generic Connections clones because every clue is geographic, and because it is an official Teuteuf title rather than a fan copy. That pedigree brings extra modes and proper stat tracking.
On the mode side you get more than the plain daily puzzle. There is an Easy mode that shows labels and names for flags, countries, and images so newer players can follow along, and an Infinity mode that removes the attempt limit for endless practice. The game tracks games played, games won, your current and longest streaks, and a graph that compares your result against other players around the world. It is free to play in the browser with no login or download, though an archive of past puzzles and ad-free play sit behind a Teuteuf Premium subscription.
How to play GeoConnections
- Open GeoConnections at geoconnections.net in your browser.
- Read all 16 tiles first and note which clues are flags, countries, cities, landmarks, or dishes.
- Look for four tiles that share one clear geographic link, such as a country, region, or theme.
- Select those four tiles and submit them as a group.
- If the group is correct it locks in, changes color, and shows the category name; if not, you lose an attempt, so regroup and try again.
- Keep forming groups until all four are solved or you run out of attempts.
Tips and strategy
- Start with the group you are most sure of, since a wrong submission costs you an attempt.
- Watch for tiles that could fit two categories, and save them until the safer groups are locked in.
- Use the country or flag you recognize instantly as an anchor, then build outward from it.
- If you are new, switch to Easy mode so flags and images come with labels while you learn the patterns.
- Practice in Infinity mode to see more category types without the pressure of losing attempts.
- Do not rush the first submission; scanning all 16 clues once usually reveals the trap tiles.
