What is Spiredle?

Spiredle is a daily deduction puzzle for fans of the Slay the Spire deckbuilding roguelike series. Each day the game secretly picks one card from the pool, and your job is to name it within six guesses. You never see the card itself at the start. Instead, every guess you type is broken down against the hidden answer across a row of attributes, and the colors that come back are your only map to the solution.

The card mode compares your guess on several properties at once, shown as a set of colored indicators. These cover the character or color the card belongs to, its type, its rarity, its energy cost, and its keywords or mechanical tags. Slay the Spire defines five card types in total: Attack, Skill, Power, Status, and Curse. A field that matches the answer lights up as a hit, a field that is close but not exact reads as a partial, and a field that is wrong stays marked as a miss. Numeric attributes like energy cost also show a directional arrow, telling you whether the real card costs more or less than the one you just tried, which lets you bracket the answer instead of testing every value blindly.

Spiredle also eases you toward the answer if you get stuck. After several guesses the game unlocks a hint that reveals the hidden card's effect or description text, giving you a second angle on the solution when the attribute grid alone has not narrowed things to one. What sets Spiredle apart from plain Wordle clones is that it rewards game knowledge rather than vocabulary. You are not arranging letters; you are recalling how the actual cards are built and using each result as a process of elimination. Because the pool is large (the card mode draws from a catalog of 522 cards), early guesses are about carving the field into chunks: lock down the character and type, then the rarity and cost, then chase the specific keyword that narrows the survivors to one. The game was built by Maybe Later Games as part of their SpireSpy project, a collection of Slay the Spire tier lists, a card browser, and deck tools. Spiredle began life around the original Slay the Spire, with the card challenge highlighted in a January 28, 2025 devlog, and the suite has since grown to cover Slay the Spire 2 content as well. It is free, runs in the browser with nothing to install, and resets at midnight so everyone faces the same daily card. The difficulty scales with how deeply you know the card set, which makes it land well with both longtime Spire players testing their recall and newer players who want a low-pressure way to learn the cards.

How to play Spiredle

1. Open Spiredle and choose the card challenge (the suite also offers relics, potions, powers, monsters, and a flavor mode).
2. Type the name of any Slay the Spire card as your first guess.
3. Read the colored indicators: each one tells you whether the character color, type, rarity, cost, or keywords matched, partially matched, or missed.
4. Follow the energy cost arrow, which points higher or lower toward the answer's real cost.
5. Use the feedback to eliminate groups of cards, then guess again to test the remaining candidates.
6. If you stall, lean on the hint that unlocks after several guesses to reveal the card's effect text, then name the exact card before your six tries run out and return after the midnight reset for a new one.

• Spend your first guess on a well-known card that sits in the middle of the pool so you can read color, type, and rarity all at once.
• Lock the character color early, since it splits the catalog into clean groups before you worry about anything else.
• Use the cost arrow to steer toward the right range, but remember that many cards cluster at low costs, so pair it with color and type rather than relying on cost alone.
• When a keyword turns up as a partial or hit, follow it deliberately by guessing another card you know shares that tag.
• Resolve the card type before chasing the specific name; the five types (Attack, Skill, Power, Status, and Curse) let one good guess remove a large slice of wrong answers.
• If you are stuck around guess four or five, spend a turn to trigger the effect-text hint, then use the remaining tries on the candidates it points to.
