Lyricle is a daily music puzzle that shows you the lyrics of a mystery song and asks you to name it. You start with a single line and have to figure out the song from those words alone. Each wrong guess or skip reveals one more line, so the puzzle turns from a hard guess into an easier one as you go.

What is Lyricle?

The core loop is simple. Lyricle opens with the first line of a song's lyrics and a search box. You type a song title, pick a match from the suggestions, and submit it as a guess. If you are right, you are done. If you are wrong, the game reveals the next line of the lyrics and lets you try again. There is also a Skip button, so you can pass on a turn to see another line without committing to a wrong answer. The whole thing runs on written words, and the fewer lines you need before you get it, the better you have done.

Lyricle is built around reading lyrics rather than hearing them. Heardle plays you audio snippets and asks you to name the song from sound. Wordle hides a five-letter word behind color-coded feedback. Lyricle sits in the same daily-puzzle family but strips a song down to its text: no melody, no vocals, just the words on the page. That changes how you play. A chorus you could hum in a second can be much harder to place when you are only looking at the lyric printed out, which is part of what makes the game satisfying when you finally get it.

Lyricle is made by Radical Owl Creative, who describe it as inspired by both Heardle and Wordle, wanting to shine a light on the often unappreciated lyrics of a song. It launched in 2022 and was posted to Product Hunt that November. A new song puzzle is released each day, and the site also offers an Unlimited Mode for when you want to keep playing past the daily one. The site links out to a separate game called Movie Grid as well. One note worth flagging: because the game caught on, several clone and mirror sites use the same name and mechanics. The feedback you get is direct and immediate. Each wrong guess or skip hands you another lyric line, which is both the cost of a miss and the help you need to close in on the answer. The game is low-pressure and quick. It is the kind of thing you can play in a couple of minutes with a cup of coffee, testing how well you actually know the songs you have heard a hundred times. It rewards a broad memory for music more than any single genre, since the daily song could come from almost anywhere.

How to play Lyricle

1. Open Lyricle at lyricle.app in your browser.
2. Read the first line of lyrics shown for today's mystery song.
3. Type a song title into the search box and choose a match from the suggestions.
4. Submit your guess, or press Skip to pass. Either way, if you have not solved it, the next lyric line is revealed and you try again.
5. Keep guessing as more lines appear, using each new line for extra context, until you name the correct song.
6. Come back the next day for a new puzzle, or switch to Unlimited Mode to keep playing beyond the daily song.

Tips and strategy

• Guess as early as you can. The fewer lines you need, the stronger your result, so commit to a real answer once you have a strong hunch instead of stalling for more lines.
• Read the opening line closely for hooks. First lines are often distinctive, and a memorable phrase can point you straight at the song.
• Use the search suggestions to jog your memory. Typing a few words of a title you half-remember can surface the exact match in the list.
• Skip on purpose when you are stuck. If the current line gives you nothing, using the Skip button to pull the next line can be smarter than burning a turn on a shaky guess.
• Treat each revealed line as extra help. If the first line is generic, one more line that unlocks a chorus or a signature phrase can make the song obvious.
• Practice in Unlimited Mode. Playing extra rounds builds a feel for how lyrics read on the page versus how they sound, which sharpens your daily guesses.
