Kpopless is a daily K-pop guessing game built around short audio clips. You press play, hear one second of a song, and try to name it in six tries, with each wrong guess unlocking a longer piece of the track. A second mode swaps the audio for a cropped album cover, so there are two different ways to test how well you actually know the genre.

What is Kpopless?

Kpopless takes the progressive-reveal format popularized by Heardle and applies it specifically to K-pop. Every day at midnight UTC, three new songs are selected from a library of more than 2,000 tracks, and you get six tries per song. The first clip is just one second, enough to catch a beat or an intro hook, and each wrong guess or skip unlocks a longer snippet, growing to sixteen seconds by the final attempt, which is close to the full licensed preview. A search bar with autocomplete lets you find songs by title or artist name, and the earlier you guess correctly, the better your score. After finishing all three songs, a guess distribution chart shows how your run compares with every other player that day.

The song game comes in three flavors: a general mode plus separate boy group and girl group modes, which the creator added after player requests. All three use the same six-attempt format and clip progression; the only difference is which artists can appear in the daily pool. A fourth mode, Album Guess, launched in May 2026 and asks you to identify an album from a cropped piece of its cover art instead of audio. All the music comes from licensed thirty-second-or-shorter previews through the Apple Music API, and the daily selection algorithm is built to avoid repeating artists and keep variety high.

The game comes from an independent developer and self-described K-pop fan who found the genre through the BTS mainstream wave, has been listening properly since around 2019, and built the site during evenings and weekends. It launched in December 2025 with a rough first version and a library of about 800 tracks; the collection has since grown past 2,000. There is no account requirement and no cost to play. Kpopless also leans into its own player data. A blog post ranks the fifty most-played songs on the site, updated hourly, with each song's total play count, failure rate, and average number of guesses drawn from real player data. How to play Kpopless

1. Open Kpopless at kpopless.com and pick a mode: the general song game, boy groups only, girl groups only, or Album Guess.
2. Press play to hear the first one-second snippet of the day's song.
3. Type your guess into the search bar, using the autocomplete suggestions to find the song by title or artist name.
4. If you guess wrong or skip, a longer snippet unlocks, up to sixteen seconds by the sixth and final try. You can hit Give Up on your last attempt to reveal the answer.
5. Repeat for each of the day's three songs, then check the guess distribution chart to see how you compared with other players.
6. Come back the next day for a new set of songs, since there is no archive of past puzzles to replay.

Tips and strategy

• Listen for the instrumental intro before the vocals start. Many K-pop producers use distinctive opening beats or sound effects that are recognizable before a single lyric plays.
• Pay attention to the featured artist or rapper's voice on collab tracks. A guest verse can be a faster identifier than the main vocal line.
• If you don't recognize the song on the first snippet, don't guess randomly. A slightly longer clip on your next attempt often reveals a chorus or hook that is much easier to place.
• In Album Guess mode, look at color palette and typography style first. Comeback concepts often have a signature visual theme you can match to an era even if you don't recognize the exact photo.
• Don't assume every answer is a recent hit. The library goes past 2,000 tracks and the creator is actively expanding first and second generation coverage, so older title tracks and deep cuts are fair game.
• Play daily rather than trying to catch up, since there is no archive. Missing a day means that day's three songs are gone for good.
